THE PAST

Founder - Lester J. Weinizerl 

After Les served in the Navy during WWII, he returned home to Johnstown and founded Westwood Auto Body in 1958 as one of the original independent auto body shops in Johnstown. He built a 3 car garage on his father Isadore’s farm land. He earned such a great reputation repairing vehicles over the years, that he built another 2 car garage addition onto the original building. He continued his great reputation of repairing cars until he retired and his son Gary took over. 

THE PRESENT

President - Gary J. Weinzierl 

Lester’s son Gary began at a very young age helping his dad in the body shop. Gary instantly found a passion for repairing cars alongside his dad. He worked with him everyday in the summers growing up. After graduating high school, Gary started working full time for his father. Upon Lester’s retirement, Gary purchased the business from his father in 1991. In 1992, Gary expanded the business and built a new Collision Center beside the original shop. To this day he has upheld the great reputation of repairing cars that his father instilled in him. 

THE FUTURE

Vice President - Mark A. Weinzierl 

Gary’s son Mark also began at a very young age helping his father repair cars in the body shop. He worked along side his father growing up until he graduated from high school and went off to college. After college, he returned home and began working full time for his father. In Dec. 2018 Mark was named the Vice President of Westwood Auto Body, Inc. When it comes time for Gary to retire, Mark will take over the family business like his father did. He looks forward to continuing the great legacy that his father and grandfather built before him.
